About Next Tech Girls work experience

Discover what a future in tech could look like through hands-on, week-long work experience placements with some of our partner companies.

We offer a limited number of work experience placements each year, currently in London and Liverpool. Opportunities are shared with our community only when they become available, so be sure to sign up to our emails to hear about any future placements we have to offer.

What to expect

During your work experience placement, you'll be immersed in life at a real tech company. You'll work on hands-on projects using industry tools, meet professionals in different tech roles, and learn about their career journeys.

You'll develop valuable skills through team challenges, join actual company meetings, and get a true insight into what it's like to work in tech. By the end of the week, you'll have a much clearer picture of the many exciting career paths available in the industry.

Who can apply

Most of our work experience placements are open to girls and young women in years 10-13 (aged 14-18) who are curious about careers in technology, some are open to older students. Eligibility requirements can vary depending on the placement and host company.

You don’t need to have any previous experience in tech or coding – just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to learn! We particularly encourage applications from students who haven’t had much exposure to the tech industry through family or friends.

When a placement becomes available, well share specific eligibility criteria and application details via email.

Key details

Placements usually run for five days, most often during school or college holidays, Monday to Friday from around 10am to 4pm. Currently, our placements are based in London and Liverpool.

You’ll spend your time at the company’s office where their team will support you throughout the week. Most placements are in city centres, so you’ll need to be able to commute to the office each day.

Most host companies will provide you lunch but you’ll typically need to cover your own travel costs. We’ll let you know

the specific arrangements in advance of your placement, so you know what to expect.

We offer a limited number of work experience opportunities each year, so unfortunately we cannot accept individual requests for placements.

When a placement becomes available, we’ll advertise it via email, usually around one month in advance. This will include all the information you need, including the dates, location, eligibility criteria and how to apply.
